How to Install Stremio on Chromebook

Chromebooks are very versatile devices as it has the ability to install Android apps as well as Linux apps, if you are looking to get an awesome Media Player for your Chromebook, I would highly recommend installing Stremio on Chromebook. Stremio is the latest media center that’s a one-stop solution for your video entertainment. Stremio will help you discover, watch and organize video content from easy to install addons. You can also use a Stremio as a media server for movies, TV shows, and web channels here is how to install Stremio on Chromebook.

Enabling Linux on Chromebook

Currently we don’t have any Stremio application specifically for Chromebook but thankfully the Linux container on Chrome OS will help us to install and enjoy the Stremio app. Before that we need to enable Linux on Chromebook and here is how you can do that step by step.

  1. Open Settings
  2. Locate Linux (Beta) in the sidebar
  3. Click Turn on
  4. At the next window, click Next
  5. Give your Linux a username
  6. Decide how much space you want to dedicate from your internal storage to it (10 GB is recommended)
  7. Click Install

Now you have successfully enabled Linux on Chromebook, now you have the ability to install any Linux app on Chrome OS follow the next steps carefully to install Stremio.

How to Install Stremio on Chrome OS Using Linux

Once Linux is enabled on your Chromebook getting up and running with Stremio is extremely easy.

  1. Go to the Stremio website
  2. Download Stremio 4 beta / Linux 64bit .deb Debian package
  3. Open the Files app
  4. Locate the downloaded package
  5. Right-click and select Install with Linux (Beta)
  6. Click Install

Stremio is a very lightweight yet powerful media Centre application it has the ability to use it as a media server. It comes with an excellent user interface the movies TV shows are categorized and the ability to install addons is the Cherry on the cake, in my opinion, Stremio is one of the best media Centre applications for Chromebook.
