The uBlock Origin is a free and open-source, cross-platform browser extension for content filtering—primarily aimed at neutralizing privacy invasion in an efficient, user-friendly method. But Android comes with an inbuilt default browser Google Chrome, and most people end up using it. The Chrome Desktop and Chrome Mobile are primarily identified with few limitations on the android version.

The biggest restriction of them is ‘Chrome Extensions‘. You cannot use Chrome Extensions on the mobile version and neither have any plans to enable them. But, here is a cool way to use uBlock Origin on Android.

How to install uBlock Origin on Android

Now, you cannot use Google Chrome to use uBlock Origin on Android. There is no direct way to do that. So, we have to use another browser that supports Chrome Extensions. In this case, we will use the “Kiwi Browser“. Now, we can also use Firefox Browser. Also, Kiwi Browser is based on Chromium so the look and feel are similar to that of Google Chrome.

Step 1: Head over to Play Store to download the Kiwi Browser app.

Step 2: Tap on the three-dot menu icon on the home page and then select the Extensions option.

Step 3: Tap on the Google hyperlink on the Extensions page and then select the Chrome Web Store result.

Step 4: Search for the uBlock Origin extension and then tap on the Add to Chrome button.

Step 5: Tap on OK in the Web Store prompt and that’s it. The uBlock Origin extension will now be downloaded and installed on your android smartphone.

You can get rid of uBlock Origin extension by tapping on the Remove button in the Extensions menu. To make any changes to an installed extension, just tap on the Details button and select the Extension options setting.
