Some of these features are hidden deep inside the settings, which you will need to enable, while some of them are already presented right up front.
Pause Apps
It becomes really annoying when you are in a meeting and your Nothing Phone (1) keeps sending you notifications from Whatsapp or any of your favorite apps. Here is the solution for this, called App Pause, it can pause any app on your phone, this will disable the app for the time till you resume it again. During this time the app will not be able to push any notification, and you won’t be able to access it.
- Just tap and hold on to any app icon to pause the app
App Suggestions
Nowadays all smartphone comes with an AI engine, and it is utilized all over the system one of the places where you see it in action is improved App Suggestion. You can enable App Suggestions on your Nothing Phone (1) for Home Screen and All Apps menu. It gets updated with the apps you used recently and suggests the next app using AI.

One-handed Mode
The Nothing Phone 1 comes with a 6.55-inch OLED screen and sometimes it is hard to reach the corners of the phone. The One-handed Mode comes as a lifesaver, the best part is, it doesn’t shrink the screen into one corner like MIUI or Color OS, instead, it just brings down the top portion of the screen for better reachability.
- Open your phone’s settings

Stops App from sharing data With Google
Google tracks more data about consumers than you might think. Google has access to your YouTube history and comments; the content in your emails with Gmail; the files you save in Google Drive; your search terms in Google Search; the places you’ve been in Google Maps; your schedule in Google Calendar; questions you’ve asked Google Assistant; the news you’ve read on Google News; the Google Ads you click on; and your spending habits through Google Pay.

Game Mode
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G powers the Nothing Phone 1 day-to-day performance is excellent, if you play a lot of games, you should try the game mode. it lets you capture a screenshot, and screen record, enable FPS counter, and even let you live stream the gameplay directly from your phone.
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap Notifications.
- Scroll down and tap Do Not Disturb.
- Scroll down and tap Schedules.
- Next to Gaming, tap the Gear icon.
- Tap the toggle next to Game Dashboard to the On position.
- If you want to enable DND while playing games, you can also enable that from here.
After Game Mode has been enabled, you will see a sidebar menu appear on the right side of the screen. This provides quick access to the new Game Dashboard, along with the different options hidden within. These include a button to stream your gameplay directly to YouTube Live, along with a Game Optimization toggle (when available), and a button to access your Google Play Games account.
Take Scrolling Screenshots
You’ll find that the Scrolling Screenshots come in useful in a variety of situations, you can save a long webpage or a document as a screenshot. It’s the same screenshot shortcut as before, so hold down the Power and Volume down buttons to grab whatever’s on the screen. In Android 12 though, you’ll see a Capture more button next to the screenshot thumbnail after you’ve taken it—tap on this to extend the screenshot further.
Quickly Disable The Camera or Mic
Nothing phone (1) comes with Android 12 and the new security and privacy tools, intended to make it easier for you to manage what apps are and aren’t allowed to do on your device. Included in these features are quick shortcut buttons for cutting off access to your camera and microphone for all apps at once.
Swipe down from the top of the screen with two fingers to access the Quick Settings pane, then tap the pencil icon (bottom left). You’ll see the Mic access and Camera access further down the screen—tap and hold them, and then drag them up to have these toggle switches always available in Quick Settings.
Share Wi-Fi Details Easily
There might be times when you need to share Wi-Fi login details with your friends and family members. Perhaps you have people over at your home and want to get online, for example, or maybe you’re at a coffee shop with a friend and want to help them log on.
Swipe down from the top of the screen, then tap Internet and the cog icon next to the network you’re currently connected to. Tap Share, and you get a QR code you can share with other people. There’s also a Nearby button on the same screen that will let you beam the details wirelessly to another device.

Search Everything on Your Nothing phone (1)
One of the best Nothing Phone 1 tips is the ability to search for practically anything on your device. Instead of just being able to search for specific apps or make a Google query, now you have ability to search things like Shortcuts, People, and Settings. When searching for something as simple as “Home”, you are provided with a multitude of different options to choose from. This includes any apps installed with “home” in the name, along with accessing anything else on your device that has to do with “home”.
This is enabled by default, however, you can jump into the Settings app and toggle what appears in the on-device search results.
- Swipe up on the Home Screen to reveal your App Drawer.
- Next to the search bar at the top, tap the three vertical dots.
- Tap Preferences in the drop-down menu.
From here, you can simply toggle what is shown when you perform an on-device search.
