Maruti Suzuki has launched the Tour S CNG, a compact sedan in line with its BS6 standards in the country. The company has kept its initial price of Rs 5.80 lakhs, which goes up to Rs 6.40 lakhs for S (O) CNG trim (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Maruti Suzuki Tour S CNG is the older generation model of the Swift DZire in the Indian market and is sold only for the fleet market (taxi). With the new powertrain, it has been introduced in three variants – S CNG, S (O) Petrol and S (O) CNG. In the Indian market, it competes with the fleet variants of Hyundai Xcent and Ford Aspire.
In the Maruti Suzuki Tour S, the company has given the same 1.2 liter K-series petrol engine which has now been updated to BS6 standards. It is worth noting that this is the old 1.2 liter engine that is available in the Dzire, not the 1.2 liter dual-VVT engine found in the facelift model. With the CNG option, its mileage will also improve.
The Maruti Suzuki Tour S is basically a no-frills version based on the older generation Dzire. The model gets steel wheels, blacked-out grille and body-colored bumpers with an all-white paint scheme. In the cabin, the company has provided HVAC units, power steering and power windows for the rear passengers as essential things. Apart from this, mandatory safety features including driver airbags, ABS, seatbelt reminder, reverse parking sensor and high-speed alert are also given.
Earlier this month, Maruti Suzuki announced that it would expand its commercial network of dealerships and include the Tour range. The Tour range includes Super Carry LCV, Tour H1 (Alto), Tour H2 (Celerio), Tour S (Dzire), Tour V (Eeco) and Tour M (Ertiga). The car manufacturer across the country has 320 commercial vehicle outlets in over 234 cities.
