Amazon’s Fire tablets have been doing the Alexa thing for a while now.Amazon has launched a new tablet under its Fire HD 8-lineup. The new version of the Fire HD 8 tablet takes everything a step further with the addition of a fully hands-free assistant experience.

It comes in Black, Marine Blue, Punch Red, and Canary Yellow colour options. While the both the Fire HD 8 tablets look exactly similar, the colour of the hardware buttons on the 2018 variant now matches with the body. On the front is an 8-inch IPS display with HD (1280 × 800 pixels) resolution.

The new 2018 variant is powered by a quad-core processor wich is clocked at 1.3GHz. While there is 1.5GB of RAM, the Fire HD 8 will be available in 32GB and 16GB storage options. Now, the users can also expand the storage up to 400GB using the dedicated Micro-SD card slot. The Fire HD 8 (2018) will be shipping with the new Fire OS 6 which is still based on Android Nougat.

Fire HD 8 Cameras

let’s jump on cameras, front camera on this tablet is now upgraded from VGA to a 2MP sensor. However, Amazon is still offering the 2MP rear camera for this tablet. It measures 214 x 128 x 9.7 mm and weighs 363 grams. Connectivity options include
WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth, 3.5mm audio jack, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port. While the 2017 Fire HD 8 is rated to five 12 hours of battery life, the 2018 variant is mentioned to last only up to 10 hours.

Fire HD 8 2018 comes with Show Mode feature, with that you can turn the 2018 Fire HD 8 tablet into an alternative to the Alexa Show.  Even with the screen off, you ask Alexa to play/pause videos or music, open apps, show sports scores, and more. You can also make video calls to family and friends who also own a Fire tablet or any Echo device. The Fire HD 8 (2018) also sports stereo speakers with Dolby Audio support.
